Hey guys!!! Sorry I’ve been gone a while. School has been hectic. So today I justwant to tell you about what I’m going to be reading over the weekend. First is Lullaby by Amanda Hocking, second book in the Watersong Series.  Second is Onxy by Jennifer L. Armentrout, the second book in the Lux series. I'm already halfway through it. Daemon Black is absolute perfection.  Third is Grendel by John Gardner. I'll be reading this for English class and need to read 5 or 6 chapters by Wednesday.  After that is Identity Theft by Anna Davies, Looking for Alaska by John Green, and finally, I'll be finishing Tiger's Quest by Colleen Houck. That's a lot of books. But that's only what I plan on reading. I'm pretty sure that I'm not going to able to finish all of them. That's pretty much all I have to say guys!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Book Character Betrayal Tag (By BooKss101)

Ok, so this tag was originally created by BookTuber Miranda of BooKss101 when she reached 500 subscribers!!!! Congratulations Miranda if you're reading this!!! I saw her do this and thought, "This seems fun. There are some characters that I don’t like at all.”  But I want to change it up just a little. Instead of just book characters, I'm also going to use characters from TV shows because there are  A LOT of characters on TV that I don't  like that much. Here are the scenarios:

1) You are at a party playing a game of Spin the Bottle. The bottle lands on you and your dream fictional character partner. You lean in to give a kiss to your dream fictional character partner, while all the while their actual girlfriend/ boyfriend is watching. Which character are you betraying in order to get a kiss from the character of your dreams?

The obvious answer is Tessa from the Infernal Devices Trilogy. I would betray her in a heartbeat in order to kiss Will. I mean come on....He's Will Herondale. Enough said.

2)You just watched Mean Girls and saw Regina George being pushed in front of the bus by Katie. Unlike Mean Girls, you do not feel guilty about pushing a character in front of a bus. Which character would you push in front of a bus? (they are still alive and well after).

I would push Kelsey from the Tiger's Saga by Colleen Houck.  Kelsey is just an irritating, annoying, and purposefully awkward character. I'd push her in a heartbeat. No need to think about it.

3) It is a life or death situation. You are trapped with a character you hate in the middle of the bush. Suddenly, as you keep walking the woods begin to look familiar and you know the way out. You call it a break for the day and you and the character you hate decide to call it a night. That night you leave sneaking away from the character leaving them to find their own way out. Which character do you betray?

I would leave Bella from Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I love Twilight. There are just some moments where she can get a bit annoying. But don't worry, if she gets lost she can just lay down on the ground and the werewolves will find her.

4) You are trapped in a hole and above you lies the only escape. You ask the character you are trapped with for a lift so you can get out. You tell them when you get out of the whole you will help them out. You make it out of the hole and walk away not helping the character still trapped inside the hole. Which character do you betray?

Elena from The Vampire Diaries the TV show, not the book. She's not irritating in the book. It's as if the people who worked on the show just wanted to make her irritating and make us hate her, because obviously, nothing terrible is going to happen to her because she's the main character. She's just SOOO irritating in the show. She can't make up her mind about anything and she's always whining about EVERYTHING. "But Stephen. But Damon. I love you both. I can't choose."  Bitch please. Is it really that hard??? No. It's not. Stop overthinking everything.

5) You are in an argument with the character you hate when BANG...you are surrounded by zombies, vampires and wolves. You and this character have to unite to fend off these creatures. You then realize you have magic dust in your pocket that a Warlock gave to you that will help you get out of any situation. You use it and suddenly find yourself in a luxurious environment sipping a drink you love. Which character would you leave to fend for themselves?

America from The Selection. She too is irritating and can't seem to make up her mind.

Alright!!! So this tag. It was so much fun to do. I don't know who to tag so..... *Awkwardness* Congratulations again to Miranda for reaching 500 subscribers!!! Got to go guys. Bye!!!!

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Movie Review

The Mortal Instruments
 City of Bones
Release Date: August 21, 2013
Director: Andrew Niccol
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars
If anyone is actually reading this, I apologized for being gone for so long. There's so much that I need to say about this movie and I didn't know exactly how to word it the right way. And also, school has started again. You know what that means.  *Homework* Not fun. But now I am back so let's get to the review.
On Wednesday August 21, The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones came out for people to finally see. I was so excited. I had nagged my mom into buying the tickets super early so that we would have guaranteed seats. I even went to the theater an hour early, because I was just that excited. I went in having really high expectations. Like, super high. I do have to say one thing. Not sure if it’s relevant, but it angered me to no end. When I was in the Alamo, before they started showing the movie, they started playing clips of horror movies that were about vampires.  City of Bones is not all about vampires. Get that into your head. Yes, there are vampires in the book, but they are not the main characters. City of Bones is nothing like Twilight at all and everyone needs to realize that. It's like when most people hear that a book has vampires in it or that a book is about vampires, they just assume that they're all like Twilight.
But let’s stop ranting. I give this movie 3 out of 5 stars. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but as a book lover and someone who is VERY much obsessed with the Mortal Instruments , I was very disappointed in the movie. The acting was mediocre, information was left out or skimmed over, and things weren't explained very well.
They didn't explain what the stele was for. The runes weren't explained very well and the scene where Clary just magically cleans her house with a rune on her arm??? Unacceptable. That's not how they work. OMG. And that scene where Clary freezes the demons, walks away, but doesn't kill them. Does that make sense??? Noooo.

 Let's talk characters.
  • Jace: I think that Jamie is perfect for Jace. He's exactly how I imagined him to be and he didn't disappoint.
  • Clary: Please, please, don't hate me for what I'm about to say. I do not think that Lily Collins is a good actress. I think that the only thing she managed to actually get right was how annoying Clary is because I'm not a big fan of her in the books. The one scene I didn't like with her was when she fell on the floor if the Institute and said "Is this the part where you take your shirt of?" I think that's the whole quote. The way it was delivered was very cheesy and not in a good way. It was as if it was just placed there just because.
  • Simon:  Robert is absolutely perfect for Simon. Exactly as I imagined him to be. One scene I didn't like with him though was his Spiderman moment with his glasses. "I seem to not need them anymore." The way he delivered that was kind of over the top and cheesy.
  • Alec: Perfect.
  • Isabelle: Bad-ass and perfect
  • Magnus: What a shame. Godfrey TOTALLY looked the part for Magnus. BUT, he didn't sound like. Magnus is one of my absolute favorite characters. I was so excited to see him. But then he spoke and I was disappointed. He didn't have the sass of Magnus. At least they got the cat eyes right.
  • Valentine: No. No, no, no, nooo.  Don't get me wrong, I love Jonathan, but who in the world thought that it was a good idea to change his backstory and put those damn braids on him??? No. Unacceptable. I have no words.
I'm done ranting, because I could literally go on all day and tell you what was wrong with this movie. They are making City of Ashes next year. I just hope that they actually get things right this time. Peace out and have a great school year!!!!

A To Z Book Survey

Today, instead of reading The Human Stain as I should have been, I was on Tumblr just goofing around and decided to go to the BookTube News blog. While I was on there, I saw a video titled the A to Z Book Survey by bookishandnerdy and I loved it so I decided to do it also. Of course, I do not have a camera available to me, so I will just be typing this and just secretly hoping that someone will read it and comment on it. This survey was originally created by Jamie from PerpetualPageTurner.com. Go check out Jamie's site and Jillian's YouTube channel. They're both awesome.

Author you’ve read the most books from:

This was actually pretty hard to figure out, so I went over to my Goodreads and it turns out that the author is Cecily von Ziegesar. I’ve read every single Gossip Girl book, The It Girl, and also Gossip Girl: The Carlyles. All of that is a total of 27 books.

Best Sequel Ever:

Insurgent by Veronica Roth

Currently Reading:

The Human Stain by Philip Roth and The Archived by Victoria Schwab

Drink of Choice While Reading:

Just water. I don’t really want to make a huge fuss about it.

E-reader or Physical Book?

Physical book. It’s so much better to actually have a book in your hand. Sure

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

I’m currently still in high school, but I would totally date Connor Drake from The Drake Chronicles. He’s nerdy and adorable. I love it!!!

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Ciy of bones By Cassandra Clare. I Remember picking this up book 3 years ago and got a little grossed out by Jace and Clary, so I put it down for a week then went back to. Glad I read it, because now, I‘m obsessed with everything Cassandra Clare writes.

Hidden Gem Book:

Switched by Amanda Hocking

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

Finding out about BookTubers. I’m really glad to find out about BookTubers, because it’s nice to know that there are actually a lot of people who love books just as much as I do.

Just Finished:

The Elite by Kiera Cass

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

I’m actually not sure actually. I try to read a little bit of everything. I guess historical fiction. I wasn’t really a big fan of history. It bores me so don’t put it in fiction books.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix by J.K Rowling (870 pages)

Major book hangover because of:

The Elite by Kiera Cass

Number of Bookcases You Own:

3. One tall, two short.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

Boy Toy by Barry Lyga

Preferred Place To Read:

Anywhere in my room!!!

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:

"To love is to destroy, and that to be loved is to be the one destroyed." City of Bones

Reading Regret:

None

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):

The Luxe Series By Anna Godbersen and the Morganville Vampires Series by Rachel Caine. I have 4 more books to go.

Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:

Clockwork Princess by Cassandra Clare, The Hobbit By J.R.R Tolkien and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K Rowling.

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

The Mortal Instruments and The Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare. I am a Shadowhunter.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

City of Heavenly Fire and Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Worst Bookish Habit:

I tend to have book commitment issues. An example is when I come home from the library, I’ll go on Goodreads and say that I’m “Currently Reading” a few books, but won’t read a single book on the list. I get distracted and read others that aren’t on the list.

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson

Your latest book purchase:

The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini, and Spirit Bound by Richelle Mead

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter

Tiger's Curse By Colleen Houck

Tiger's Curse
The Tiger Saga #1
Colleen Houck
Hardback
403 Pages
Published January 11, 2011
Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Goodreads Description: Passion. Fate. Loyalty. Would you risk it all to change your destiny?
The last thing Kelsey Hayes thought she’d be doing this summer was trying to break a 300-year-old Indian curse. With a mysterious white tiger named Ren. Halfway around the world. But that’s exactly what happened. Face-to-face with dark forces, spellbinding magic, and mystical worlds where nothing is what it seems, Kelsey risks everything to piece together an ancient prophecy that could break the curse forever.
I have a lot of mixed feelings about this book. I don't hate it, but I don't necessarily love it. But apparently I like it enough to read the rest of the saga. When I first saw this book in Books-A-Million, I walked right past it and bought City of Ashes and Clockwork Angel instead. A month later, I went to a new library, saw this, and picked it up thinking that it was a sign. I ignored it for two weeks and decided to read it during the BookTube-A-Thon.
I literally spent all day reading it. But before I read it, I had watched a video of someone listing their favorite book characters and the person had said, "I love Ren from Tiger's Curse." I was all like whatever and read it a week later. About 20 pages in Kelsey had nicknamed the tiger Ren and I realized that the story had been ruined for me and I predicted what would happen. I admit, I was tempted to put the book down right then and there, but I kept reading because I was curious about Ren.

  Kelsey
As soon as I started reading I immediately hated Kelsey. I was like, "Who's POV am I reading from? An 8 year old child or an 18 year old teenage girl?" Kelsey's voice is just so childish and so irritating, I just wanted to punch her. And not only did she sound like a child, she asked all kinds of dumbass questions. There were so many awkward sentences, I was thinking why was this book published with so many mistakes. It obviously could have been improved. I just can't stand Kelsey. She's just so annoying and juvenile. I've never hated a main character before, but Kelsey takes the gold. She pushes away not one hot guy, but two: Kishan and Ren. What is her problem??? I have no idea. I just know that she needs to get her mind right and she needs to actually act SMART and stop acting like a child. And what is up with her hair??? It seemed like on every other page, she was playing with her hair. News, flash honey, doing your hair is the least of your problems

   Ren
I have to admit, I do love Ren. He is such a gentleman and I am amazed that he has the patience to put up with Kelsey. There is nothing wrong with Ren at all. He's just perfect. if it wasn't for him, I would have just thrown the damn book at the wall and picked up something else without hesitation. What I don't understand is why Ren loves Kelsey. There is absolutely nothing special about this girl. She acts like a fucking child. I know that I have said this multiple times, but its true.
So all in all, this book was mediocre. It wasn't special at all and the writing was as boring as watching paint dry. I give this book 3 out of 5 stars. I was going to give it 2 stars but decided to be a little generous. I do not like this book, but the story interests me, so I am going to read the second book. I just hope that the second one is a hell of a lot better than this one.

Major Bookgasm

Ahh! *Scream*
Picture from
Angelic Nephilim's Tumblr
So, I was on Tumblr just ten minutes ago when I saw the most beautiful thing ever.  A cover for City of Heavenly Fire. I'm not really sure if this is THE actual cover, but it's still very beautiful and I can't stop looking at it. I actually screamed when I saw it. Guys, I'm so excited for this book. So, out of curiosity I went onto Goodreads to find out when the book would be released. The release date is May 27, 2014...... That's too far away!!!!!  And to think that things couldn't get any worse, I looked up the release dates for the Dark Artifices.....It's in 2015. What am I going to do with my life. My whole book world revolves around Cassandra Clare's world and her writing.

     Here's the Goodreads Description:
Los Angeles, 2012. It’s been five years since the events of the Mortal Instruments when Nephilim stood poised on the brink of oblivion and Shadowhunter Emma Carstairs lost her parents. After the blood and violence she witnessed as a child, Emma has dedicated her life to the eradication of demons and being the best, fastest and deadliest Shadowhunter since Jace Lightwood. Raised in the Los Angeles Institute, Emma is paired as a parabatai with her best friend, Julian. As Emma hunts those who caused the death of her parents, the trail they’re following leads back to those they’ve always been taught to trust. At the same time, Emma is falling in love with Julian — her closest friend and, because he is her parabatai, the one person in the world she’s absolutely forbidden by Shadowhunter Law to love. Set against the glittering backdrop of present-day Los Angeles, Emma must learn to trust her head and her heart as she investigates a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.

Emma???? Emma Freaking Carstairs???? Did I read that right??? Yes, I did. I just about lost it when I read that name. I kind of regret looking this trilogy up because now I've put myself through the extreme torture of waiting for it, but I'm also glad to have looked it up, because now I have something to look forward to because at least Clary isn't a main character. Obviously, she's going to appear in the series, but at least it won't revolve around her and we won't have to hear her annoying voice. But, while I was reading the description, I was thinking, "You know what, sometimes the Shadowhunter's laws suck." And they do. I don't know about you, but it seems to me that their laws are placed just to make some Shadowhunter's miserable on purpose. Am I right or am I right??? Just kidding. My theory is probably wayyyyy off. But that's okay. We all have our own crackpot theories now don't we?

Friday Reads 8/16/2013

Alright Guys!!!! So today I'm going to be doing my first Friday Reads on this blog. For those of you who might not know what Friday Reads is, all you're basically doing is telling what you're going to be reading for the weekend. So this weekend, I will be reading The Human Stain by Philip Roth. I do not like this book at all. It's terrible and absolutely boring, but I have to read it for school.  Yay. *That was sarcasm.*
The next book that I hope to actually read is The Archived by Victoria Schwab. This book has had so much hype in the BookTube community that when I saw it in the library, I ran to pick it up when I saw it on display.  I have read a few pages of this, but I don’t think that I’m going to continue it until I finish The Human Stain. I only have about a week to finish it. Yeah, so those are my books for my Friday Reads. One boring ass book and one book that I’m super excited to read. Yeah, okay, so…..bye!!!
